About Christina
Christina Crowder RDN/LD, CNSC
Education and training
Christina graduated summa cum laude from the University of Arkansas with a degree in Dietetics. After graduation, she completed her dietetic internship through Duke University Hospital in Durham, North Carolina.
Throughout the internship, she gained over 1400 supervised intensive hours in clinical and community nutrition, including neonatal intensive care, pediatrics, sports nutrition, nutrition support, endocrinology, oncology and transplant.
Clinical practice
In 2016, Christina began practicing alongside several pediatric and adult endocrinologists and nurse practitioners at OU Physicians Tulsa in their Diabetes and Endocrinology Clinic. There she teaches nutrition in the Harold Hamm Diabetes program, which serves newly diagnosed type I and II diabetic pediatric and adult patients.
In addition, she sees her own patients for feeding tube management, ketogenic diets, weight management, hyperlipidemia, sports nutrition, and several other endocrine-related disease states like PCOS.
Specialisms
She specializes in sports nutrition, nutrition for children with special health care needs, and anything related to physiology and metabolism. She loves working with athletes of any age, or individuals who are looking to optimize their health through nutrition.
She is very passionate about women's health, disordered eating, and optimizing fertility. Her own journey through disordered eating and under-fueling as an athlete has provided the real life experience that enhances her expertise as a clinician.
Research
Research has been a large part of her professional and personal interests, beginning during high school as an injured gymnast, which led to discovering research and PubMed while looking up PRP-therapy as mentioned by her orthopedic doctor during a visit.
She has published in the field of nutrition and metabolism and is currently working on her Masters and conducting research in the Type 1 Diabetes population.
Gymnastics
A large part of her time away from the clinic is spent as a USAG Level 10/NCAA rated gymnastics judge. Judging has allowed her to remain part of the sport she loved dearly during her career as a competitive gymnast. This sport sparked her interest in nutrition, as the physical and aesthetic demands require focused nutrition and recovery for optimal performance.
She currently serves on the Athlete Wellness Committee with USA Gymnastics as their registered dietitian nutritionist.
